Whiskey in a Teacup: Book Review and Life Lessons

Ya'll know that when I need inspiration I put my phone away and grab a beautiful book. My most recent read was Whiskey In a Teacup by Reese Witherspooon.

She has the secret…

The key to a harmonious & clutter free living area, especially when you have kids, is to HIDE everything. I’m talking about closets everywhere, drawers on everything and ottomans that are really storage chests.
— Reese Witherspoon, Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits

This can not be more true! It reminds me of a storage system I used for a little boy's bedroom:

This easy to assemble & classic look makes the perfect dresser! These drawers guide the child to know what is where and how to find it.  Add the labels and you’ve got a real win-win.

What leads Reese to say the above quote is that she embraces the crazy & wild that come with kids and animals.

Having young children myself keeps my outlook on organizing very GROUNDED.

Organizing “systems” (drawers, containers & more) are the key to maintaining order & clutter free living. I use a LOT of drawer dividers, lazy susans, and labels and am constantly asked to share where I find most of my go-to items.

So I've put all of my favorite organizing items into one Amazon list for you to shop:

The BEST thing you can remember about being organized with a busy life of kids and animals - have realistic expectations.

Organizing isn’t one-and-done…..it takes maintenance & you must give yourself grace.

It’s not going to be perfect all the time, but adding systems & bins can help maintain order.

All the best, Marge
